The Arkansas River through Canon City offers exceptional fishing opportunities, particularly for brown and rainbow trout. Sections near town hold Gold Medal water designation, indicating superior fish populations. Fly fishing is popular, though conventional tackle works well too. Local outfitters offer guided fishing trips and can provide current conditions and recommendations. A Colorado fishing license is required.
